During the holiday, I took my two primary‑school daughters to visit Fenghuang Ancient Town. Beneath our feet lay bumpy bluestone paths, and ancient city walls stretched along the road. The old‑style streets caught the girls’ eyes at once.
The two little girls changed into pretty ethnic costumes. One wore pink‑and‑white clothes with an exquisite headpiece, her skirt swaying gently in the breeze. The other was dressed in bright red minority clothing with striking blue‑red patterns. Hand in hand, they wandered slowly along the stone street, curious about everything around them.
Old houses stood on both sides of the street, with red lanterns hanging high. Shops lined the road, and crowds of tourists walked to and fro. As they walked, the girls chattered non‑stop. From time to time, they stopped to look at interesting little goods by the roadside. Stepping on time‑worn smooth stone slabs, they enjoyed the special local atmosphere of the ancient town. The sisters were filled with excitement.
Side by side, their small figures blended into the scenery of the old street. We did not rush from spot to spot, but simply enjoyed the relaxing holiday. Watching them talk, laugh and skip about, my heart was filled with warmth.
Sightseeing here was more than enjoying views. It was also a chance for children to broaden their horizons. The old lanes, special costumes and lively street scenes left wonderful memories for the two girls. This trip to Fenghuang became a lovely little story of our holiday.
